Abstract

This dataset contains v0.1 of the Merged Burned Area Grid product from the ESA Fire Climate Change Initiative (Fire_cci) project. This product is a Beta version and should be used for testing purposes only.

The BETA MERGED Fire_cci Burned Area (BA) product v0.1 (also called FireCCIM01 for short) was obtained using machine learning techniques to obtain a FireCCI51-like (https://catalogue.ceda.ac.uk/uuid/3628cb2fdba443588155e15dee8e5352) burned area product based on the FireCCILT11 (https://catalogue.ceda.ac.uk/uuid/62866635ab074e07b93f17fbf87a2c1a) grid product.

It is available for the years 1982 to 2018 (with a gap in 1994 due to lack of FireCCILT11 information) in grid (0.25 degrees) format.

The files in these directories include Burned area information with 2 layers: Sum of burned area and Uncertainty (as obtained from the Deep Neural Network results). A global coverage of 0.25 x 0.25 degrees grid resolution is stored in a single file for each monthly period.
