The maps were generated by automatic processing of the ENVISAT Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar (ASAR) data archive covering the period from 2006 to 2012. The IW frequency maps were combined with bathymetry and mixed layer depth modelling data to estimate the interaction of IWs with the sea bed.
