Abstract
Wind-profiler radars are instruments which provide wind measurements and turbulence information as a function of altitude in most weather conditions. Doppler radars probe the atmosphere and derive the wind profile (i.e. the speed and direction as function of height) from echoes of the transmitted radio waves produced by turbulence in the clear air.
