Mantle Circulation Models as part of the Mantle Circulation Constrained (MC2) project
Abstract
This dataset contains models produced for the NERC Large Grant - Mantle Circulation Constrained (MC2; NERC grant award NE/T012633/1). Each model is produced using 3D mantle circulation code, TERRA and deployed on the ARCHER2 UK National Supercomputing Service. Each folder represents a model which comprises output files (NetCDF and ParaView) between 1000-100 Ma (in 100 Myr intervals), 90-10 Ma (in 10 Myr intervals) and 1-0 Ma (in 1 Myr intervals). Additionally provided are the run files for each model, at various restart times which include a parameter file and a compiled executable. Additional output files are described in the README files.
This project generated data between 01-11-2020 and 30-09-2025. The temporal range of the simulations is 1 Ga to 0 Ma, with 1 Ga representing 1 Billion years in the past and 0 Ma representing zero million years before present.
