Abstract

Data for Figure 2.38 from Chapter 2 of the Working Group I (WGI) Contribution to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Sixth Assessment Report (AR6).

Figure 2.38 shows indices of multi-decadal climate variability from 1854-2019 based upon several sea surface temperature data products.

---------------------------------------------------
- AMV.nc contains Atlantic Multidecadal Variability (AMV) index from COBE, ERSST, HADI and KAPL.
- PDV.nc contains PDV index from COBE, ERSST, HADI and KAPL.

Data acronyms:
COBE [Objective Analyses of Sea-Surface Temperature and Marine Meteorological Variables for the 20th Century using ICOADS and the Kobe Collection].
ERSST [NOAA Extended Reconstructed Sea Surface Temperature].
HADI [Hadley Centre Sea Ice and Sea Surface Temperature data set].
KAPL [Kaplan Extended SST].

---------------------------------------------------
Data provided in relation to figure
---------------------------------------------------
Upper panel:
- Data file: AMV.nc (10-year-filtered, yearly data, 1854-2019)

Lower panel:
- Data file: PDO.nc (10-year-filtered, yearly data, 1854-2019)

In all the cases: - Blue line corresponds to COBE data set
- Red correspinds to ERSST data set
- Skyblue corresponds to HADI data set
- Green corresponds to KAPL data set
