The prime objective of the (A)ATSR missions is to return accurate measurements of the global sea surface temperature. Hence, there have been joint efforts to validate the data. The (A)ASTR Validation Campaign is a important component of AATSR validation plan, which involves different validatino activities to validate data from ERS-1, ERS-2 and ENVISAT. During the six months since the launch of ENVISAT, and throughout the mission, there have been several activities to validate AATSR. This is to ensure that the instrument is meeting its specification and returning SSTs within +/- 0.3 K.
