GEOSChem model simulation for MOYA BAS flights in Bolivia
Abstract
A nested GEOS-Chem simulation for the MOYA Bolivia flights 2019-03-08 to 2019-03-09.
The GEOS-Chem inverse modeling methodology followed a Bayesian synthesis inversion framework (4). The state vector included 100 elements, 99 corresponding to emissions and one describing the baseline mole fraction. Measurements were averaged into 1-minute means. Model-measurement uncertainties included the standard deviation of measurements with in each one-minute period and a fixed 8 ppb model uncertainty. A flat prior emissions distribution was used within the Llanos de Moxos basin with emissions of 48 mg CH4/m2/day. A nested GEOS-Chem simulation at 0.25° x 0.3125° was used to map the relationship between emissions and aircraft measurements in a regional domain bounded by 24 - 0 °S and 75 – 55 °W. Initial boundary conditions for the nested domain were created by a global GEOS-Chem simulation at 2° x 2.5°.
