Abstract

This is a ground-based laser-induced fluorescence instrument for detection of OH, HO2, and RO2 radicals. OH reactivity measurements using a laser flash-photolysis technique can be provided alongside the radical measurements. The instrument is housed in and operated from a custom-built 20 ft shipping container. OH and HO2 measurement is challenging but necessary due to their role in atmospheric chemistry. The laser induced fluorescence at low pressure is measured.

This instrument has a wide range of applications including simultaneous detection of OH, HO2, RO2 radical species and total OH reactivity. Detection of iodine monoxide and glyoxal is also possible, although not at the same time as the other radical measurements.
