Tropospheric Emission Spectrometer (TES)

Status: Not defined
Publication State:

Abstract

TES (Tropospheric Emission Spectrometer) is a Fourier Transfer Infrared Spectrometer (FTIR) that measures the infrared-light energy (radiance) emitted by Earth’s surface and by gases and particles in the troposphere. Ozone profiles, atmospheric temperature, concentrations of water vapor and deuterated water vapor, carbon monoxide and methane, nitric acid, effective cloud pressure and optical depth, surface temperature and land emissivity are all derived from TES radiance spectra.

More Information (under review)

The Pre-industrial to end 21st century projections of tropospheric ozone from the Atmospheric Chemistry and Climate Model Intercomparison Project (ACCMIP) publication, contains further information on the Troposhperic Emission Spectrometer.

The NASA-JPL website gives further details of the Tropospheric Emission Spectrometer.

Who to contact

If you have queries about these pages or about obtaining the TES data from the BADC then you should contact CEDA Support. Your query should be answered within one working day. When follow-up work is required, the CEDA support will carry out the work as quickly and efficiently as possible, and in any case, the user will be kept informed of progress.
