The project aims to measure and simulate reactive halogens in the atmosphere during summer and winter. These halogens significantly impact the atmosphere's oxidative capacity. However, ambient observations are limited, and only recently have global models included this chemistry. BLEACH will track both gas and aerosol phase of key gaseous bromine, chlorine, and iodine species, to refine the halogen mechanism in GEOS-Chem.
