The polar classed Icebreaker Oden (call sign SMLQ) is designed as a combined escort icebreaker and research vessel. She was the first non-nuclear icebreaker at the North Pole in 1991, with a total of seven visits. Between the years 2006-2011 she conducted five successful cruises to Antarctica. In the course of time, Oden has been upgraded and fitted with advanced scientific equipment. It was also deployed during the 2014 Arctic Cloud Summer Expedition (ACSE).
