ATSR-1: Multimission land and sea surface data, v1.1
Abstract
Along-Track Scanning Radiometer (ATSR) mission was funded jointly by the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change External Link (DECC) and the Australian Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research External Link (DIISR).
This dataset collection contains version 1.1 ATSR Multimission land and sea surface temperature data.
The instrument uses thermal channels at 3.7, 10.8, and 12 microns wavelength; and reflected visible/near infra-red channels at 0.555, 0.659, 0.865, and 1.61 microns wavelength. Level 1b products contain gridded brightness temperature and reflectance. Level 2 products contain land and sea-surface temperature, and NDVI at a range of spatial resolutions. The third reprocessing was done to implement updated algorithms, processors, and auxiliary files. The data were acquired by the European Space Agency's (ESA) Envisat satellite, and the NERC Earth Observation Data Centre (NEODC) mirrors the data for UK users.

| Title | ESA SAFE processor for generating AATSR multimission data into AT_1_RBT in SAFE format |
| Abstract | The datasets have been fully reprocessed into a new product which aligns them with the format adopted by the instruments’ successors, Sentinel-3 SLSTR, and includes the following updates from the former L1B datasets [AT1_TOA_1P / AT2_TOA_1P] generated by the ERS ATSR 3rd Reprocessing in 2013: Improved and extended Level 1B datasets, beginning with recovery of Level 0 data, via the reprocessing of Level 0 data to ungridded brightness temperature (UBT) scenes to Level 1A to retain extra instrument information. Level 1B products in a Sentinel-SAFE/NetCDF format: a product folder containing NetCDF files and an XML manifest file, holding extensive metadata. This means new information is now available, such as per-pixel uncertainty estimates, associated meteorological data from ECMWF ERA-Interim, instrument scan and pixel quality information, and channel-specific exception and flag values. Geolocation improvement via orthogeolocation to a Digital Elevation Model. Improved surface classification via use of the Sentinel-3 Land Water Masks. Improved cloud information via a latitude correction within cloud look-up tables. |
